Join the Evolving Men’s Conference

Boulder, Colorado, July 17th, 2010- In the spirit of collaboration, Jayson Gaddis, men’s visionary, coach and contemporary psychology geek is pioneering a new nonprofit organization entitled The Evolving Men’s Conference. He’s inviting established leaders of men’s groups, fatherhood groups, and men’s organizations to contribute their wisdom, knowledge and experience this September 25th and 26th to the initial Evolving Men’s Conference-Build The Foundation Weekend. Participants will lay the groundwork for the first and ongoing annual Evolving Men’s Conference expected to launch in 2011. (see more text below video)
Jayson says, “Men often work in isolation yet many existing men’s groups and organizations have developed profound emotional, spiritual, and practical methods for bringing men out of that isolation and into action. As a result, these men live more fulfilling, impactful lives. But often the men’s organizations do the very thing they purport to frown upon—work in isolation, hide their challenges, and put on a mask.”
He and a group of men supporting the birth of a more unified effort intend to blast through that “tired paradigm”. They are engaging men’s leaders and organizations to practice collaboration and transparency, both hallmarks of the new and emerging masculine paradigm. They will model this behavior at the Build The Foundation Weekend and then continue doing so while serving up to 1000 men annually at the Evolving Men’s Conference. The Evolving Men’s Conference is expected to target men who seek tools, resources and support for their own personal evolution. The demographic will be further defined at the Build The Foundation Weekend.
On day 1 of the Build The Foundation Weekend, the men’s leaders will discuss, debate and come to general consensus on the state of man today. On day 2 they will continue working together to build plans for the 2011 Evolving Men’s Conference.
Participants of this September’s Build The Foundation Weekend will be in best position to not only receive an invitation to offer their wares at the annual Evolving Men’s Conference but will also be in position to influence the actual selection criteria for featured service providers for the conference in general. A steering committee will also be selected to make ongoing decisions for the management and direction of the conference.
Men’s leaders interested in participating at this year’s Build The Foundation Weekend on September 25th and 26th in Boulder, CO should visit http://evolvingmensconference.com/upcoming-events/ to learn more and/or apply.
Note: A witness panel of men who fit the likely Evolving Men’s Conference demographic will be present to give their input as the weekend unfolds. A few women leaders will contribute at the Build The Foundation Weekend as well.

I like what you have to say. I wonder if this work includes work with young men and elders?
I personally approached A man and asked him about bringing our groups together to do share and meet. I judge that I got suttle resistance to this. I really like what you have to say and I really like that we can focus on working together and not competetion. I love competition and I am good at it, but it does not leave me fullfilled. Keep on keeping on.

I’m in brother. Is there someway you and i can speak? I am the President of MDI, a 1000 plus man organziation spread out through out North America. We are holding our second annual concvention in Las Vegas Oct. 15-17 and would be amenable to moving next year’s convention to Colorado. We had 200 men at last year’s convention and expect more this year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkNdrrftjDk We’ve begun holding men’s conferences throughout the country. Partnering with other organizations continues to be a challenge — ego is quite the trickster — but it is something we continue to welcome. Feel free to e-mail me or call 908-693-0313 We have considerable experience at producing things like this and will gladly offer it up with the understanding that this is your baby.

Hi Matty,
Thank you for your interest. Young men working with elders is certainly an area of discussion I expect at the Build The Foundation Weekend this September. I am confident it will come up.

When I first started reading about this I was very excited.
It seemed that finally someone was taking a sincere step to prod the men’s movement (if there is such a thing) out of the morass of “secret weekends” and “archetypes” and “initiations” and self proclaimed “healers” and “visionaries” as well as those who want to provide therapy without going through the trouble of being properly trained, educated and licensed.
Then I saw the list of attendees and it seems like the “same old, same old” coming to give a taste (pitch) their weekends, vision quests, experience, coaching, seminars etc.
The men’s movement (again if there ever was such a thing) has remained moribund for decades by approaches like this and I was hoping some sort of step forward.

I’ve reread my post above and regret that it seems more than a little harsh in tone.
I remain disappointed, and was hoping for more evidence of forward motion. I don’t get the sense of that from the list of attendees but I certainly could have expressed it with more understanding and openness.

Weston,
Thanks brother. I hear you loud and clear. We have invited everyone we can think of and many folks have either said “NO” outright for whatever reason, or have declined to respond to the invite.
I feel proud of the list thus far because even if we are all a bunch of dudes where it’s “more of the same” we are getting in the room to address the very concerns you voice. ’bout time right?
Feel free to help get the word out so other visionaries can get in here and mix it up with us.
Also, I would be careful to come to conclusions about the results of “forward motion.” Stay tuned for post conference updates and be open to being surprised.

Definitely agree with exactly what you wrote. Your explanation was undoubtedly the simplest to understand. I tell you, I usually get irritable when individuals discuss issues that these people obviously do not know about. You managed to strike the nail on the head and explained every thing with out complication. Perhaps, others can learn from this. Will more than likely be back to learn more. Cheers
