I just listened to the group call that I was not able to attend. I was inspired and energised by what I heard. I heard honest and heartfelt emotions from a group of great men. I am so looking forward to meeting with you all in a week’s time.
I am Graham Phoenix from the UK, currently living in Spain. I have come to men’s work in the last couple of years after facing a crisis in my own life following the breakup of my 35 year marriage. I was left pondering my own future, wondering where I had got to after all those years. Although I was successful professionally I didn’t feel I was personally.
Through help from friends I re-connected with my core and discovered my masculinity. Ever since that time I have been exploring the issues surrounding masculinity for men and helping other men to re-connect as well as helping women to understand men.
I look forward to sharing more on this in Boulder and helping to move us all forward.

Have we squared away how we are starting on Saturday morning? Are the men meeting on their own to get alligned before we open up the discussion? Just need to know if I should shower and shave in the am.

Just closing the loop, this is an e-mail I sent out this morning.
To Everyone, (I have not checked if this e-mail link actual does include everyone, so feel free to distribute as needed)
Thank you for sharing in the first steps of our experiment — the melding of outer work with inner work. As a lawyer and mediator I am very conscious of when I am putting on my game face to accomplish a particular goal or agenda. I know for me over the course of the weekend the “agenda” got a little blurred and the energy and commitment in the room allowed me to put my game face on the shelf and give myself the gift of coming face to face with some of my “stuff”. Thank you all for allowing that to happen.
In my world being “the man” doesn’t always provide the space for the necessary care and feeding of my soul. While I have my circle of men and my mens team to turn to I have the challenge of being viewed as a leader and often times the men are reticent to embrace me as a man in need. Being with men and women where my gravitas meant nothing was for me akin to being on vacation and at times the “little me” indulged in the freedom of that space. Having said all that I came away incredibly energized and my mind is racing with possibility.
So am in and to paraphrase my esteemed colleague and brother Rich O’Keeffe “I not only want to be useful I want to used up and tapped dry”. The spigot is open, the water is flowing. What’s next?
In service and with tremendous gratitude, love and respect

PS – As the wonderful icing to the cake, on my flight home last night I had the pleasant surprise of sitting next to Phil Simms and in front of Jim Nance. They got on the plane sweating and huffing and puffing having raced from the Bronco’s game which had just ended two hours earlier to catch the flight. For those of you who might not know, Simms was the quarterback for the NY Giants during their glory years. I am a season ticket holder, great opportunity for idol worship but what I got in the moment was that he was just another guy looking to get home to his family after a long work day. The plane had Direct TV, the Jet game was on, we spent the duration of the 3 plus hour flight watching the game and connecting as men in the moment.

If I might –perhaps you should consider adding a few images. I dont mean to disrespect what youve said; its very enlightening, indeed. However, I think would respond to it more positively if they could be something tangible to your ideas. Keep it up, but put a little more into it next time.
